As we head towards the middle of 2011, yet another tech company announces its IPO; this time it’s professional networking giant LinkedIn with an estimated valuation of $9 billion. This valuation exceeded it’s expected value of $4.3 billion which, as some people have said, “Not bad for a social network that isn’t Facebook”.

Microsoft have officially unveiled, at the risk of lagging behind their competitors, Bing Deals. In doing so, they’re putting one foot in the door of the market Google are pitching a tent, and where Amazon (LivingSocial) and GroupOn have fully established their camp. So instead of offering a rival product, Microsoft have simply gone down the line of launching a deal aggregator – listing deals from a variety of websites such as the aforementioned GroupOn.

Bizarrely however, this product is not available on desktops and instead is only supported on iOS (iPhone, iPad etc) and Android. Not even their own…


Bing, Microsoft’s Search Engine, has announced an even deeper integration of Facebook into it’s service by implementing Facebook “Likes” further into it’s search results.

Currently, there is a designated area of Bing search results showing “liked” content from your Facebook friends. But Bing says that (for US users only at the moment) this will be changing – with the “like” buttons appearing in-line along with your search results.
