Everybody in the SEO world is talking about ‘Penguin’, the latest Google update. But if you aren’t too familiar with SEO and the world of Google updates, you might be wondering what all the fuss is about!
What Is A ‘Google Update’
The engineers at Google are constantly updating their search engine algorithm – the algorithm is what ‘decides’ what results you are shown when searching the web, these updates are intended to improve Google users search experience, hopefully showing more accurate results of high quality, relevant sites.
Google is known to update their search engine algorithm up to…
The internet is full of blogs, articles and online courses on how to do SEO. Some give good honest advice, others portray SEO as a mystical dark art and then there are some that simply promote underhanded and what the industry calls ‘Black Hat’ ways of trying to cheat the search engines.
The truth is that SEO isn’t rocket science, it just takes a bit of thought, time and creativity. As a professional Manchester SEO company we always promote and practice ethical techniques of doing SEO; techniques that search engine spiders like.
Perhaps your SEO isn’t working or at…
SEO is constantly changing, and that’s because search engines are changing, internet user habits are changing and most of all technology is changing; it’s getting better, more widespread and more powerful.
Any SEO company that is still using the same techniques that they were using 3-4 months ago to get rankings, traffic or sales for their client websites are already well behind.
I sometimes don’t even know why we continue to call it SEO anymore because what we do for our clients is so much more than that. What we provide is actually a full service digital marketing campaign…
For anyone dependant on search engine traffic acting as the driving force behind your website, it’s time you checked out the Google +1 button.
On the surface, Google’s brand new +1 feature may appear as simply yet another button to include along side your websites ever growing arsenal of social sharing tools , however, when you begin to look at both the dynamics at play behind the scenes and ultimatly, the results, it very soon becomes clear that the +1 button has what it takes to deliver dramatic results to your social search engine rankings.
How to integrate the Google

If you haven’t already heard about Google’s new social network, Google+, then you’ve probably been conducting some wierd experiment involving being locked in a room with no outside communication. Or perhaps you’ve been trying to live out one of those “New Life in the Country” type programmes to escape the rat race but it didn’t work out because you forgot you hate badgers? Either way it’s time to pay attention because this time Google means business.
After the mega flops of Google’s previous social network and collaborative media projects, namely Buzz and Wave, I think Google’s finally learned enough from…
As we head towards the middle of 2011, yet another tech company announces its IPO; this time it’s professional networking giant LinkedIn with an estimated valuation of $9 billion. This valuation exceeded it’s expected value of $4.3 billion which, as some people have said, “Not bad for a social network that isn’t Facebook”.
Why all the fuss? Why the huge valuations? Surely these companies aren’t making that much money? Facebook the big daddy of the social networks reported that in 2010, it raked in $1.12 billion in revenue yet some sources say that Facebook could be worth…
I don’t know about other Manchester SEO companies but here at UP Search we’ve been rather busy – so much so that as a result of our previous recruitment campaign we’ve hired two new engineers.
We’d like to send a big welcome to Scott and Mel who will work along side myself on SEO, PPC and Social Media clients. Scott brings with him a deep understanding of various finance sectors which fits in very well with some of our client base. Mel will be working on our lifestyle related clients as well as helping with Social Media campaigns.

Speculation over the takeover of Google UK has today come to an end. After nearly 18 months of negotiations between the lawyers of the two companies, the deal has been officially approved by the Competition Commission to allow UPSearch to take over Google’s UK and Ireland operations.
The deal does not come without its requirements; as part of the deal UPSearch are to retain the main search engine operations but to sell off other assets which have not yet been officially disclosed but as the media rumour mill goes into overdrive – these assets may include Google Maps. One insider…
It’s been a busy few weeks and we’ve been inundated with new client proposal requests that are seemingly flooding in and also preparing for all the continual changes happening in the world of search and social media.
As always – a lot has been happening in the world of search and social media – too much to cover in this post but here’s a brief rundown of some interesting stuff:
Google releases its major milestone algorithm updates – the rankings of so-called Content Farms and low quality (shallow) sites are hit and takes down some innocent bystanders.
